Ray Harryhausen: Special Effects Titan (2012)

A fairly standard hagiographic documentary about Ray Harryhausen, the master of stop-motion special effects and, as the film shows, as much of a legitimate auteur of the films he worked on as anyone else, even getting heavily involved at the story-writing level of his films. Although it does lean a little too much on endless platitudes from various famous talking heads, ranging from Steven Spielberg to John Lasseter,  Special Effects Titan works because it goes into a solid amount of detail into Harryhausen’s actual working methods, discussing nearly all of the films he worked on, from Mighty Joe Young to Clash of the Titans. Helpfully informative instead of just pointlessly effusive.
