Pierrot le Fou [Crazy Pete] (1965)

1/4

Whilst I’m not going to pretend that Pierrot le Fou is anything other than absolutely breathtaking to look at, I’m also not going to pretend it’s a half-decent film either. Again, the same problems that plague so many of Godard’s films are present here; a detachedness and lack of care towards the characters; endless meaningless quoting and literary references; a nonsensical plot that has no sense of drive, structure or coherence. I’m perfectly happy with films that don’t make sense. I’m perfectly happy with films that try to be fun. I’m perfectly happy with films that do nothing in particular. The problem with Godard is that he seems to think his films mean something. They don’t. They’re just the ramblings of some bourgeois Parisian who takes himself far too seriously but has no fucking of a fucking clue about anything ever. Jebote u pitchku materinu Godard!
