Film Reviews, Short Review

Il Buono, Il Brutto, Il Cattivo [The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly] (1966)

Though the last of the Dollars trilogy tends to be most people’s favourite of the three, I’ve always found that For a Few Dollars More just edges out The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly by a smidgen. The middle film is ultimately leaner and sharper, and it also features more Lee Van Cleef: my favourite of the three main actors between him, Clint Eastwood, and Eli Wallach. Yet I still cannot deny the brilliance of this film. Despite its three hour run-time, it never feels too long or dragged out, and it is relentlessly, unceasingly cool and badass throughout.
