Sightseers (2012)

“He’s not a person, he’s a Daily Mail reader!” Certainly one of the truest lines ever written in the history of cinema. Sightseers, about a couple going on a caravan holiday and then casually deciding to commit a murder or two, is an unmistakeably British and funny film.  The film’s two stars and screenwriters, Alice Lowe and Steve Oram, come from the stand-up comedy world, and their chemistry and writing experience shows through here, and although not all of their dialogue crackles with as much wit as I’d have liked it to, this is still an enjoyable romp through the British countryside. Chalk up another successful film for Ben Wheatley!
